Tonight is the night! Rockstar Uproar Festival will kick off in Minneapolis, Minnesota! To all those that are going to the show or any of the other upcoming ones: HAVE A BLAST!!
From day one, I have been a massive fan of Good Charlotte, so I have to do a little promotion for my GC fellas! They have put up a new tour video today with a new track from their upcoming album "Cardiology", so if you like the band or you're into pop/punk, be sure to check this one out! It's called "Counting The Days"!
Good Charlotte's new album "Cardiology" will be out November 2nd!
One of our readers, Brittany, was so kind to send in this scene of the movie Jacob's Ladder. Now, I have never seen it before, but after seeing this video, I definately want to see it. And you probably do too...
Unfortunately the video can't be embedded, so you have to go watch it here on YouTube.
See any resemblance...? ;)

Our friend Heather over at Deathbat-JP was so kind to translate Zacky Vengeance's interview with the Japanese magazine Geki Rock. Read a preview below, you can find the rest on Deathbat-JP.com!
Interviewer: Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater belongs to older generation compared to you and has different fan base. Could you tell us how you came to have him as guest drummer? Zacky: Mike was one of the drummers Jimmy respected. We have had some chances to get to know Dream Theater in interview rooms and such. When Mike heard about Jimmy’s death, he was kind enough to get contact with us asking “Is there anything I can do for you? I’d do anything to help you guys”. He must have known we were working on new album. As for us, we couldn’t cancel or delay release of new record so we should work on schedule as planned. Mike happened to be our favorite drummer; of course Jimmy was at the head of list, so we asked him to be our guest drummer. Jimmy must be happy as Mike was his idol.
Interviewer: What do you think of Dream Theater? Zacky: We are all huge fan of them from beginning. They are talented as musician and creative. I haven’t met with any of them before but Jimmy’s sudden death brought Mike to our band. Jimmy was the one who loved Dream Theater and Mike most in our band so it felt like having Jimmy around when we were with Mike, that feeling made us happy too.

Police made several arrests toward the end of a concert featuring nine hard rock and metal bands at the Prairie Capital Convention Center Friday.
The concert was headlined by Avenged Sevenfold. Also on the bill were Stone Sour, Hellyeah, Sick Puppies, Halestorm, Janus, My Darkest Days, Hail the Villain and New Medicine.
One incident involved two men in their mid-20s allegedly hitting and kicking a 24-year-old man on the concert floor about 10:30 p.m., police said. The victim was hospitalized at St. John’s Hospital with a cut on his nose and possible leg injuries.
Police arrested Justin L. Hartman, 30, for allegedly punching and elbowing a 27-year-old man, causing cuts and swelling while the pair was on the concert floor about 11:05 p.m.
Patrick H. Ward, 25, was arrested for alleged trespassing on the first floor about 9:20 p.m., police said. Cory A. Medley, 29, was arrested for allegedly trespassing about 9 p.m.
This isn't really related to Avenged Sevenfold, however, they were playing at the event (KROCKATHON) and something like this might happen again in the future, as it has in the past as well. If you see something like this happen, do not get involved, warn someone from security or the police. They will take it from there. At all times, try to stay calm and do not get into fights. No one wants to get hurt or get arrested.
RAWR Magazine have put up their set of photos of Avenged Sevenfold live in Wallingford, CT last month. You can check them out by clicking the photo below!
Mike Portnoy just posted the following message on his Facebook:
I am BEGGING the gunslinging between DT & A7X fans here to STOP! If you're not a fan of the other band, please do NOT post negative and insulting shit...take it elsehwhere...I'd hope most of my fans have open minds and ears and can enjoy both bands (as I do) and please respect each other here...
Please, if you don't like Mike and/or his own band Dream Theater, that is fine, but there is NO NEED for hatred or anything along those lines towards him or Dream Theater fans. Please be a respectful A7X fan and respect Mike for being a good person, for being a good friend to our guys, for helping them out with everything he is doing. Be respectful and leave it at that. Thank you. -Sabine
Chart Attack writer Kate gives Avenged Sevenfold's new album 'Nightmare' a 4 out of 5. Pretty nice you think, however, her review made me feel like she was missing the whole point of this album:
I was completely excited when I heard that Avenged Sevenfold were going through with the recording of their latest effort, Nightmare, following the death of drummer James "The Rev" Sullivan. Most bands would take some time off, so I was really thrilled that they were finishing the recording. Which is why listening to Nightmare is such a mixed blessing.
I get that it was a difficult time for Avenged Sevenfold, and I really wanted to love Nightmare, but there was one small snag that prevented me from fully giving my heart to the album. While trying to create a tribute to their departed drummer and working in all the tracks he had written prior to his death, Avenged Sevenfold effectively created two albums that don't quite work together.
Normally, their albums are full of slightly angry machismo and a fair bit of swagger, which shows through on tracks like "Nightmare," "God Hates Us" and "Natural Born Killer." There's usually a slow song or two, but the majority feature their atypical, fast-paced sound. On Nightmare, though, there are a larger number slower tracks like "Buried Alive," "So far Away" and "Save Me." And while they're all very well written, they just don't blend properly with the fast-paced songs.
For what it's worth, Nightmare is still a quality album worth checking out. It just feels like an disc that was caught between two ideas, and I can't help but think that if the band had picked one or the other and stuck with it we'd be listening to something amazing right now.
'Nightmare' was meant to be a themed album. However, after Jimmy passed away, the main theme of this album pretty much became about Avenged Sevenfold's nightmare, the one that they were in, the one they were experiencing. Although I completely get what Kate is saying, I wish she would've thought twice and realized that this album wasn't meant to become a typical Avenged Sevenfold album after Jimmy passed. It's not a disc caught between two ideas. It's not something they could choose between. It's their feelings, it's their heart and soul. It's anger and pain. Confusion. Questions. That right there is what makes this a quality album. That's what makes this an amazing album. It can't get more real than this.
I don't often feel the need to share my opinion on things over here, because everyone should think for themselves and make up their own mind. However, her final comments in the review made me want to defend this record, because it IS amazing! -Sabine
Mike Portnoy: "I'm Taking A Little Piece Of Jimmy On The Road With Me..."
Personally, I just want to say that Mike Portnoy is one of the coolest guys ever. He is so kind and he's been so good to our boys and to us fans. Thank you, Mike!
Check out the new music video by the It Boys called "End Of The World"! The video was directed by one of our friends from DCMA Collective, Tal Cooperman, Colin Jacob and The Lost Boys! The video includes appearances of Ryan Sheckler, Holly Madison and more so be sure to check it out!
Metal Underground spoke to Johnny Christ a while back about Avenged Sevenfold's latest album "Nightmare". You can read the full interview right here and find a preview below!
Where did you guys record the new video for “Nightmare?” Johnny: We recorded that in L.A. We weren’t going to do a video at all, but we wanted to pay a tribute. We had worked with director Wayne Isham before and we trusted him and he came through for us with a theme from Jacob’s Ladder. There are things throughout the song and video that show and represent Jimmy. We strapped M. Shadows to a gurney and shove him around and had a bunch of people playing with blood. It’s pretty visually intriguing.
