If you live in Dublin, Ireland or in the near area of Dublin, you are in luck! According to this article, there will be two listening parties in the city where you can hear the new Avenged Sevenfold album "Nightmare" in it's entire.
Yes, two of the best pubs for those of your musical persuasion will be playing the album for in full for the first time in Ireland on Sunday July 25th. If you want to be one of the first people in the country to hear 'Nightmare', just head over to Bruxelles on Harry St or Fibber Magees on Parnell street where they'll be hosting listening parties between the hours of 6pm and 10pm.
Please be sure to not just go and listen to it, also pick up a copy of the album the day after!
In less than a week the big day is finally here. Ever since Avenged Sevenfold's last performance on August 2nd, 2009 a lot has happened. The band promised us a darker album. A dark journey. However, no one could ever have imagined just how dark the journey would be.
Now, almost 7 months after Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan's passing, the band is about to release their darkest journey ever. Having had the honor of already reading their story in Revolver Magazine, I have come to understand just how hard this time has been for them. Recording this album has been very hard on the band, very emotional, but also very therapeutic. I want to make you all aware of this and I want you to realize that the guys have worked very hard on this album, not just for record sales, but because this was Jimmy's masterpiece.
We, as fans, have to show them our love and support and dedication. We have to show them just how grateful we are, that they have decided to record this album after all and that they are sharing it with all of us. Now, everyone knows Avenged Sevenfold fans are very dedicated fans. This is your chance to show not only the band, but everyone out there, just how dedicated we are to this band.
If you haven't pre-ordered yourself a copy of "Nightmare" yet, be sure to do so now or get the album at your local record shop on July 27th. Tell your friends to do the same, spread the word and get people to buy the album, instead of illegally downloading it. If you don't have the money, ask your parents to borrow some money so you can get this album. Buy it as a present for someone, if not a fan, then someone you think might appreciate their music.
Be part of something big. Let's show the band what we are made of. Let's show the world what we are made of. Do whatever you have to, whatever you can do, to help us get "Nightmare" to #1!!
Check out the scans of Avenged Sevenfold on the cover of the dutch magazine Up Magazine. I have also scanned the article and will translate it for everyone as soon as possible. Stay tuned for that!
Blistering.com recently spoke to Dream Theater about their future plans. Mike Portnoy was asked about drumming with Avenged Sevenfold:
Blistering.com: Obviously, the Avenged Sevenfold gig. How do you plan on approaching this one? Portnoy: They’re a great bunch of guys, I’m excited to tour with them, proud to be on their album. I’m just looking forward to playing with them some more. They’re awesome guys and are going through a very traumatic, emotional experience right now. I’m glad I can be there for them on a musical and personal level.
Blistering.com: It must be nice for you to play stuff that’s not so involved, right? Portnoy: It’s definitely going to be a relief to just play drums and not have control over anything else. I don’t know if I’d ever want to relinquish control over my band full-time, but to do it with Avenged Sevenfold will be a nice change-of-pace and I’m looking forward to just playing drums.
Blistering.com: Another project: Steven Wilson, Mikael Akerfeldt, you. What’s the status? Portnoy: Those guys got together and wrote some stuff just to feel each other out. And the three of us have been talking for years. I think the Internet has blown it up to the point where it has a life of its own that we never really...thought we’d have for this. We’ll see. Right now my year is filled with Avenged Sevenfold once this tour ends. Steven has some commitments with Porcupine Tree and some other stuff. That being said, I’d love, love, love to do it and work with those guys, so if I can, I surely will.
The anticipation over the release of new music from Avenged Sevenfold has been palpable and feverish, partially because the group has an extremely devoted following, partially because they have been a band on the brink of a major breakthrough for a few years and partially because people were curious to see how they would handle the death of their drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan late last year. This week, the band unveiled the clip for their new single "Nightmare," which is the first track from their upcoming album of the same name (which hits stores next week).
Both as a song and as a video, "Nightmare" delivers. The track settles into a deeper metal groove than some of their past work, with jack-hammering guitars grinding out an extremely melodic riff. The music sounds extra thick, which can probably be credited to producer Mike Elizondo (who has worked with everybody from Dr. Dre and Eminem to Rilo Kiley and Maroon 5). The video is typically manic, taking the viewer on a tour of the most horrifying sanitarium in history. The horrors in the clip include giant hairy spiders, a guy dancing with a skeleton, old women with crazy faces, a dude bleeding from the skull and, in the video's key scene, a terrifying little girl.
The clip ends with a shot of a drum kit with nobody behind it — a fitting tribute to the Rev that is neither maudlin nor crass. All in all, "Nightmare" resonates with everything that makes Avenged Sevenfold awesome: Pulse-pounding riffs, frontman M. Shadows' evil bellow, catchy tunes and a resilient savagery.
Barnes & Nobles have put up 30 second previews of the entire album for you to preview. So for those of you who who cannot wait til next week, head over to this site and enjoy!
There's also a video on YouTube, by TheBear59, but I'm not sure how long that will be available:

KROQ Exclusive will be bringing you a brand new Avenged Sevenfold song from "Nightmare" this entire week. Every day is a new song, so keep an eye on the site.
Avenged Sevenfold uploaded a new video to their YouTube account. This one includes both M Shadows and Johnny Christ. However, Shadows does the talking on their track "Buried Alive".

Apparantly, there is another hidden link on the Avenged Sevenfold website. If you go to AvengedSevenfold.com and move your mouse of the deathbat, a hidden preview of "God Hates Us" should start playing. Good luck!
