Today, at 9am, the tickets for the UK trek of Avenged Sevenfold & Stone Sour went on pre-sale at Live Nation.
This is just a short message to make you all aware of the fact that Live Nation is an official seller for the UK tickets. I have already seen auctions on eBay, asking £125 for just two tickets.
Personally, do I not only think this is way too much for two tickets, seeing as the original price is £27.50/£29.50, I also want to point out that the tickets COULD be fake. I'm not saying they are, but they could be.
In conclusion: please be careful where you buy your tickets. This post is not meant negative towards eBay, I just want to make you all aware of the fact that some people do sell fake tickets (not just on the internet) for a lot of money and you don't want to spend your money on a worthless piece of paper.
Avenged Sevenfold confirmed their UK tour with Stone Souryesterday. Now, Live Nation UK has all the shows listed on their website, along with pre-sale dates and on-sale dates. I have listed them all below for you:
The Japanese magazine INROCK recently interviewed M Shadows and published it in their upcoming issue for the month August, #320. The magazine will go on sale this Thursday.
A big thank you to Heather from Deathbat-JP for letting me know and sending me the English translation of a small part of the interview! :)
“There’s no one like him, no one dies three days after writing song for a goodbye.”
“Nightmare”, Avenged Sevenfold’s 5th album has classical rock sound as it base. Heavy and dark tone exist through the whole album but band member said it’s not some kind of concept album. The theme of this record is too sad to be called “concept”. All songs on it are filled with their thought to their drummer, the Rev who died last December. The song called “Fiction,” which the Rev wrote three days before his own death is something we can truly call masterpiece.
I’ve heard your new album, “Nightmare”, it sounds awesome. Have you? Thank you.
This album is dedicated to your old friend, the Rev, who died last December, is that right? Yes. Jimmy had been writing this record with us, so we thought we had to stick to what he left behind when we finalized this. We tried hard to keep his songs and drumming style alive.
I wasn't sure whether to post this or not, but seeing as the family spoke to the OC Register about it and anyone can find it online, I figured it wouldn't hurt much.
However, if anyone from the A7X family requests this post to be taken down, please contact me and I will asap.
The OC Register recently placed a small article about Jimmy's condo in Huntington Beach, where he passed away, being for sale now. They also spoke to his father, Joe Sullivan.
An oceanfront condo in downtown Huntington Beach where a drummer in a top rock band died is for sale.
Jimmy Sullivan, of Avenged Sevenfold, was found dead of an accidental overdose in the condo last December. Coroner officials also said there were indications that Sullivan, 28, had an enlarged heart, which could have played a role in his death.
I recently spoke with his father, Joe Sullivan, and he told me how much being able to buy a condo right on the beach meant to the musician, who grew up in the city.
“He knew he had made it,” Joe Sullivan said.
Avenged Sevenfold won Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2006. The group’s self-titled fourth album hit No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2007. The band was at work on their fifth album at the time that Sullivan died.
Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan had a music studio in the condo, which he liked for its proximity to the downtown scene, his father said.
Instead of a being secluded somewhere in a bigger house, ”He’d rather be out, walking around Huntington Beach,” Joe Sullivan said. “He loved Huntington.”
Ultimate Guitar spoke to Avenged Sevenfold bassist Johnny Christ about Jimmy and his passing, about writing and recording "Nightmare" and his bass playing. Below a small preview:
Your fellow bandmates have described Nightmare as a much darker record in comparison to your past material. In the first stages of the writing process, did you have a goal to shape it as such? We definitely had made the decision that it was going to be a concept record. We wanted to have a dark concept record, sort of like The Wall or Operation: Mindcrime. At the same time we wanted to incorporate some of what we had done in the past with the guitar work. We wanted to make it heavier in general. Throughout all of that, the songs that came out were musically already as dark as we wanted them to be. Then lyrically it took a different turn when Jimmy passed. The lyrics then became mostly not 100 percent but mostly to do with his death and his life.
Did you switch up your usual studio setup during the making of Nightmare? Yeah. This time we worked with producer Mike Elizondo, who is a very classically trained and accomplished bassist himself. Otherwise he’s a brilliant musician and songwriter who has worked with 50 Cent and Dr. Dre for a long time in the business. It’s definitely different genre of music. He was great to have in terms of getting different sounds. There was nothing too dramatic other than a few amps and stuff. Over all, I used the same things that I used on previous records to get the raw tones.
Below is a list a few more rumored Avenged Sevenfold UK dates, taken from Last.FM. Seeing as some sites, which some of you have passed on to me, have taken down the listings of the shows, I figured I would post these.
