Altsounds.com Reviews Slash' Solo Album: M Shadows Came For Metal And Delivered
Altsounds.com reviewed Slash' upcoming solo debut album, entitled "Slash". Although the writer of this review says he expected more of the entire album, he said some very nice things about "Nothing To Say" and M Shadows.
‘Nothing to Say’ featuring M Shadows has the best music by far and I can only put that down to the Avenged Sevenfold influence. There was no way Shadows was planning on singing some naff acoustic junk he came for metal and that is what he delivered. Head and shoulders above the rest, reflecting the kind of album this ‘could’ have been if Slash had chosen vocalists of a similar ilk. Don’t get me wrong, I am a big fan of Slash, but for that reason alone I had huge expectations of this being an iconic CD for years to come.
Thanks to Angie for sending this in!
Behind The Scenes with Slash - including M Shadows!
Check out this cool video of behind the scenes footage from Slash recording his upcoming debut solo record, "Slash". This is the first of two parts, which includes a small interview with M Shadows. Also, a little bit of footage from Avenged Sevenfold's LA show last years (April 14th, 2009) when Slash joined the band on stage, plus a little backstage footage of thαt show.
A bunch of new t-shirts have been added to the Official Avenged Sevenfold Outlet Store. Head over and get yours while they last. They're only 5 dollars so what are you waiting for?? You can also find some cool accesoires in the outlet store.
I finally got around to scan the new Metal Hammer magazine with Slash and our very own M Shadows on the cover!
Besides the cover and the cover story, the magazine also included a small article on Avenged Sevenfold heading into the studio with Mike Portnoy, so I scanned that as well. Enjoy!
Avenged Sevenfold to play Rockstar Uproar 2010 Tour?
Earlier this month, I posted something about Avenged Sevenfold possibly playing a show in Canada, alongside of Disturbed and Stone Sour. A few more websites are now saying that Avenged Sevenfold will play on the entire tour, called Rockstar Uproar sponsored by Rockstar Energy Drink.
Are you just as curious for Slash' new album as I am? Then check out this YouTube video that features 30 seconds clips of all the songs from the album, including "Nothing To Say" featuring M Shadows..
Last month, Vinnie Paulsaid he wanted our Jimmy to win 'Best Drummer' at the Golden Gods awards this year. This month, he said the following to Revolver magazine to remember him:
“His music was very challenging and dangerous, but the Rev was always just a down-to-earth guy that was very humble, with no ego. He always treated me with the ultimate respect and I always enjoyed his presence. He was great.”
Thanks to Kara for sending this in! Also, sorry for the delay on updates the past three days. I've been out of the country for a bit! We all need a break from time to time, right? ;)
Vote for Avenged Sevenfold in Kerrang! Magazine's Rock 100
Over the next few weeks, Revolver Magazine will post remembrances of The Rev's friends. This week, Burn Halo's James Hart is up.
“Jimmy had an innovative style. He was able to blend rock and metal with the best of them. He was very creative, not just as a drummer, but as a songwriter as well. And he had such a warm heart. He never wanted anyone to feel left out or feel second rate. He was a special drummer and a special person. Though his short life came to an end abruptly, he lived a life one can only dream of. I will never forget him.”
This week's Kerrang! magazine includes a classic Avenged Sevenfold feature, in which they pay tribute to The Rev. Be sure to get your hands on it if you can - for those who can't, check out the scans in the gallery.
I love how they started off this article:
On December 28, 2009, Avenged Sevenfold's drummer, The Rev, passed away suddenly. Four years ago this week, after joining the quintet in Los Angeles, we told the story of the unbreakable bond that lies at the heart of A7X. It seemed like the right time to tell that story again...
A big thank you to Sarah for scanning these and sending them in!
It's called ONE OF A KIND for a reason, so be quick... The Synyster Gates Custom Black/White Pimp Stripe is for sale now... There's only ONE so find the details here and get it while you can!
The Synyster Gates Custom - Red Pimp Stripe Guitar was sold out before I could even post it...
I just added 8 new pictures of some awesome fan tattoos, so be sure to check them out! As always, a few previews. Be sure to check the gallery for more!
Thanks to Alyssa, Ben, Bradley, Dru, Jolene, Kevin (2) and Ruth for submitting pictures of their A7X ink!
Submit pictures of your A7X tattoos to a7xfansdotcom@gmail.com and I will post them up! :)
It's that time of the month again! The new Metal Hammer has hit the shelves and I think you should get it! This month's magazine has our very own M Shadows on the cover, together with Slash. The magazine also features an in depth interview with the both of them as they talk about working together on Slash's debut solo album, titled "Slash".
Avenged Sevenfold will be featured in tomorrow's episode of Fuse's "Loaded". Tune in on 4.30pm ET. "Loaded" will also air at 8pm ET - but I am not entirely sure if that will also include Avenged Sevenfold.
The rumor goes that Avenged Sevenfold might play in Canada on August 24th. According to this website the band is scheduled to play with Disturbed and Stone Sour on Uproar 2010.
I have already contacted the management of the band to see if they can confirm this or tell us anything more. Until then, please consider this a rumor.
Thanks to Angie for getting in touch :)
Slash talks about "Nothing To Say" featuring M Shadows
Music Radar spoke to Slash and had him do a track by track review on his upcoming album "Slash". This is what he said about the song with M Shadows:
“There wasn’t a lot of conscious thought about what kind of record I was making. I was just pooling all of these people together and it was a devil-may-care kind of thing, but once I started to look at the list of people I’d already worked with, sort of halfway through the record, I had some of my heroes on there, some of my contemporaries and I wanted to have some young guys.
“For this song I was thinking that Dave Mustaine would’ve been great, but I didn’t want to spin way too much into any one era. Then I thought of Avenged Sevenfold, and fortunately we share the same management so M Shadows was easy to contact! And he was great, he came in and worked really hard to get the melodies together, he took it very seriously. It’s me getting away with something I couldn’t do in Velvet Revolver!”

Thanks to everyone who gave it a shot and put this poster together! I chose the biggest and best one, by Michelle H. Some were equally good, but smaller - some where a little less good, but bigger! I hope you like this one as much as I do!
