Rest in peace, Jimmy.

Kerrang! Scans

Published on February 03, 2010 @ 8:38AM // SHARE ON TWITTER OR FACEBOOK!

Check out the scans of this week's Kerrang! magazine. The one of The Rev is actually not a poster, but a sticker that comes along with the magazine.

I also typed the scan out, because it might be a tad small to read for some!

One month after the untimely death of Avenged Sevenfold drummer Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan, two of his surviving bandmates made their first public appearance to raise money for charity.

Avenged Sevenfold vocalist M. Shadows and guitarist Zacky Vengeance joined members of Good Charlotte, NOFX and Hollywood Undead on January 25 at Mission Viejo Country Club for the Duffing For Dollars charity golf and casino tournament, to raise funds for My Friends' Place, a non-profit rehabilitation facility for homeless runaways and at-risk youths based in Hollywood.

The A7X boys proved to be a formidable due on the 18-hole course, taking the trophy for first place, completing their round with a 13 below par score. NOFX's Erik Sandin, meanwhile, won the Putting Contest.

"I used to be a homeless kid in Hollywood," he said as he handed the directors of the charity his cash winnings. The event raised $18,000 for the drop-in-centre, which provides health and education services to almost 2,000 homeless youths each year.

In other news, The Rev's family are still awaiting the results of an Orange Country coroner's toxicology tests to determine the exact cause of his death.

Thanks a bunch to Zoe for sending the scans to me!

M Shadows & Zacky Vengeance attend "Duffing For Dollars"

Published on February 02, 2010 @ 12:14PM // SHARE ON TWITTER OR FACEBOOK!

After reading about their first 'public appearance', I asked a friend what kind of appearance this was. He instantly pointed me in the right direction. M Shadows & Zacky Vengeance attended the Duffing For Dollars Celebrity Golf Tournament last week, January 25th. Also present were their friends Benji & Joel Madden from Good Charlotte, along with many other celebrities.

The event was held at the Mission Viejo Country Club in Mission Viejo, California and raised over $18,000 for the "Unite The United" and "My Friends' Place" charities.

"With over 100 participants during the day/night, Avenged Sevenfold was the winning golf team with a score of 13 under par while Access Pass & Design garnered the “Highest Score” trophy."

And something we've all been waiting for, a few pictures. Images will be bigger once you save them.

At last, a new layout

It's been a while, but I finally got around to put up a new layout. I was working on one, but with Jimmy passing away, it didn't feel right to put that one up. After that, life has been nothing but hectic and dramatic, so I didn't get around to do a whole lot. I hope you enjoy the new layout - and if you don't you can just suck it up ;)

Big shout out to the lovely Kerri for making this awesome header. She's always been a big help and I hope she knows I appreciate it! =)

With that said, look forward to some updates in the next couple of days. Until now, have a lovely Sunday!

Chris Epting thanks Avenged Sevenfold fans.

Published on January 21, 2010 @ 9:37AM // SHARE ON TWITTER OR FACEBOOK!

Last week, I posted a colum from writer Chris Epting from the Huntington Beach Independent. After a small week, Chris writes about all the feedback he has gotten from Avenged Sevenfold fans since then:

Finally, a comment about the overwhelming amount of mail I received last week and continue to receive in regards to my piece on Avenged Sevenfold drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan. I’ve never experienced anything like this as a column writer. The majority of the messages were from young fans over the world. Collectively, they mourn, but individually, they expressed in vivid, heart-wrenching language the pain they feel from Sullivan’s death. Their notes became like so much poetry; intense love letters and introspective reflections about a drummer, and a band that is an integral part of their existence. This loss is a huge moment in their young lives, and judging from the writing I saw, this loss ties them all even closer together as a community.

I wish all of you A7X fans, if you’re reading this, peace and healing. And may the power of the music push you to do great things. Lastly, I’m in the process of answering each note received, and though it may take a while, I promise to do it.

Tal Cooperman speaks about The Rev

Benji Madden: "The Rev didn't have a bad bone in his body."

Published on January 19, 2010 @ 9:12AM // SHARE ON TWITTER OR FACEBOOK!

Good Charlotte's Benji Madden spoke exclusively to Kerrang! magazine about The Rev's passing last December. A part of it was included in last week's magazine (see scan) but Kerrang! posted some more on their website.

Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden contacted Kerrang! to pay tribute to Avenged Sevenfold's drummer, Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan, who was found dead in his Huntington Beach home on December 28.

"This isn't something I have had to deal with a lot in my life, so I really don't know what to write," begins Benji. "Right now, it doesn't really feel real. [After Jimmy's service], we went to Shadows house and had a few drinks, telling our best Jimmy stories and we laughed until we cried. The Rev has more stories about him than any other person I know. Stories we couldn't tell in a church, stories that sound like exaggerations but they aren't. The Rev is rock 'n' roll through and through. One of the greats. One of those souls that comes along so rarely and just touches every single person around him. To know Jimmy is to love Jimmy. If you happen to have spent an evening out with The Rev on tour somewhere or at some get together or function, well, you were best friends for life after that. And Jimmy didn't forget it. It's not an act. I must have heard 50 people call Jimmy their best friend [during the service]. And they meant it. Loveable is a great word to describe Jimmy. Endearing. Kind hearted. Carefree. A fucking legend!

"I'm just talking about the kid who, as Shadows recalled, took communion in a 'Slayer Fucking Slayer' T-shirt when he was 12, dancing up the church aisle the whole way, making all the kids laugh. I'm talking about the guy that who stood up to his all time musical hero, for talking disrespectfully to his best friend's girl. He doesn't judge people. Rev didn't have a bad bone in his body. That quality... It is impossible to describe, he was just born with it. That's just The Rev.

"I took you for granted, Rev," he continues. "I took for granted being able to hang with you at the family get-togethers and holidays over the years. I took for granted watching you play drums. I took for granted our conversations. And fuck man, watching you play drums! You want to love music? Watch The Rev play drums. Listen to him play on a demo. Listen to him play on a record.

"Good Charlotte and A7X are more than just bands," says Benji. "We are family. We celebrate each other's lives together, holidays, weddings, kids being born. Successes and failures. Jimmy is at the heart and soul of all of it. He has taught me more then anyone I ever met in any church. And now you get to live forever, Jimmy. You are one of the greats.

"See you on the other side Rev," he concludes. "We love you forever."
