We asked Avenged Sevenfold frontman M Shadows to comment on his favourite albums from 2009 and here’s what he told us: “That’s tough. My favourite non-metal album is Dave Matthews ‘Big Whiskey And The GrooGrux King’. Megadeth’s album was great. I think the new Atreyu record is good. I think the metal album of the year would have to be Dream Theater’s Dark Clouds And Silver Linings. I love Dream Theater. The new record is unbelievable. I like a lot of prog stuff and I like a lot of the European metal stuff but to me Dream Theater… I love big, long songs and I love listening to Petrucci and Portnoy, and I even like James Labrie’s voice, so… Do you think an Avenged Sevenfold fan would be surprised that you have such esoteric tastes? “We like to throw our fans curveballs. But if it’s good I’ll listen to it. I listen to everything from pop music to Maroon 5, all sorts of shit. I just love it all, I eat it up. At the end of the day I don’t listen to only metal – you can’t eat steak every night! You have to have to have Taco Bell once in a while…” Avenged Sevenfold will be releasing a new album in 2010. |

4 year old Jonah plays "Afterlife"

But today, Warner sent us a interesting video of Jonah. Jonah is a 4-year old drummer and is completely self taught. Check out this video of him playing Avenged Sevenfold's Afterlife!
USC Trojan Marching Band to release CD

The USC Trojan Marching Band will be releasing a 40-track double CD with hits from Then and Now. This to celebrate 40 Years of Dr. Arthur C. Bartner devotion to the marching band. How is this interesting to all of us? The Now CD will include the YouTube hit Almost Easy by Avenged Sevenfold. The CD will be available starting November 14th, 2009 at all USC Bookstores for $24.99. ALBUM UPDATE FROM ZACKY V
It has been awhile since we have shed light on our current doings. Well here is a long awaited update into the world of A7X..
We came off of the road amidst one of the most turbulent times in history. Everything going on around us was overwhelming, frightening, frustrating and confusing. I must confess that it was also very exciting to me. I’m sure you can share my sentiment. We have been focused on only one thing, writing and preparing to record what to me is our most personal and epic Avenged Sevenfold album. The reason is the fact that everything happening around us in the entire world might be a once in a life time source of inspiration and direction. We have been harnessing every aspect of what makes A7X truly unrelenting and building off of that. I don’t think we sleep too much anymore because of the excitement we feel while writing this album. Only a world spinning out of control could inspire the music and vision we have now. Once again it is fucking exciting. We will continue finalizing our songs until we feel every note does both You as well as Us justice. We are also in the final stages of solidifying our production team, studios and engineers so that the second the axe falls and the album is written we will spend day and night in the studio until it is complete. This album will definitely take you on a very dark journey...
