Avenged Sevenfold's carreer gets reviewed

Published on July 21, 2009 @ 7:08AM // SHARE ON TWITTER OR FACEBOOK!

Alistair McGeorge from 411Mania took it upon himself to take a look at Avenged Sevenfold's carreer over the years: their line-up, their fame and their sound. Even though he admits to not being a fan of the band, it was a fun read nevertheless and nice, quick look at the past and realize how far this band actually came! Here's a little preview:

In an interview with Blistering.com, M. Shadows commented on whether he was worried about backlash from older fans, and if the new direction of the band would be perceived as A7X selling out. It was clear that the band would continually make whatever music they wanted, with Shadows saying: "We're not the type of band that's going to worry about what everyone is going to think about us. If we did that, we'd end up writing a metalcore record."

Jimmy, Jimmy and more Jimmy!

Published on July 18, 2009 @ 11:45AM // SHARE ON TWITTER OR FACEBOOK!

First of all, you can read an interview with Jimmy's parents Joe and Barbara Sullivan right here, that was done by the Huntington Beach Independent back in may. Here's a little preview, but definately check out the whole thing!

Raising their son, 28, in this house along with sisters Kelly and Katie, they knew early on that Jim’s life might involve percussion.

“He was desperately into music,” Joe says, laughing. “In the bathtub when he was tiny he’d be banging away on things. Then, pots and pans — anything and everything.”

Barbara adds, “So finally we got him a little drum kit from Sears. And we knew — we just knew this was serious.”

More Jimmy is available at William Hawkins Photography with some great shots of Jimmy that were taken for Promark Drumsticks, who endorse Jimmy.

Message from Shadows!

Published on July 15, 2009 @ 11:28PM // SHARE ON TWITTER OR FACEBOOK!

The lovely Mr. Matt Shadows has posted an update into Avenged Sevenfold's myspace.

Hello everyone -
I realize that with the last record we stayed away from personally updating you guys with loads of information about how we were doing and about how the tours were going. We stayed away from doing too many interviews, radio and T.V. spots, trying not to overexpose ourselves. Not seeing ourselves everywhere and hearing about stupid shit we've said has generally made us happier people, much unlike the "City of Evil" record cycle. But I feel in doing so we have stopped communicating with the people that truly care about this band, the fans. So I'm gonna try to make these updates a little more frequently.

First I wanna say we had a great time touring this record. From the first tour in clubs, to headlining "Taste of Chaos", to going out with Iron Maiden in Europe, to finishing it up with Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Burn Halo, Shinedown, Saving Abel and Rev Theory. We've made some great new friends and just had a great time playing to you guys every night. Rock on the Range and opening for Metallica in Mexico City were just added bonuses. We are gonna start rehearsing here in a couple days to get ready for Sonisphere over in the U.K and Ireland. We are looking forward to that.

We have been relaxing after almost 20 months of straight touring, but we have also been throwing around a lot of ideas for the new album. I think after we get back from the U.K. we will be able to fully get into this writing process. I'd hate to say more and start speculation and rumors this early in the process so thats all I'll say about the album. Time flies and you'll have a new record on your ipod before you know it, so be patient.

Since we've been home I've been working on a song with Slash for his solo album. It's a killer track and he plays some of the most technical stuff I've ever heard from him.
But since it's his record and not mine, more updates will have to come from him. "Waking the Fallen" went gold today and though we don't talk about record sales much, this feels like a huge accomplishment. That record sold 3,000 copies the first week and is now well over 500,000 copies. In a day when music is virtually free, its a huge testament to the fans we have and the dedication they have given us for 10 years. Thanks guys and girls, we look forward to 10 more!

-Shadows

thanks for keeping us updated!
He's fantastic. ^.^

Fan Photos: Live from London

Our Flickr contact Emz_Louise recently added some really nice live shots, taken in London, to her Flickr account. The pictures are in one set, but from two different shows: July 5th, 2008 - supporting for Iron Maiden at Twickenham Stadium & August 20th, 2008 - an exclusive (small) event for Kerrang! at ULU with a surprise performance of Matt Tuck (Bullet for My Valentine).

May I add, I was at the Kerrang! show and it's great to see some nice fan photos of that show! I suggest you check them out and leave her some comments!

Thanks to Emz_Louise for sharing her photos online! :)

Avenged Sevenfold on 'Soundcheck'

Published on July 13, 2009 @ 9:26AM // SHARE ON TWITTER OR FACEBOOK!

I bumped into this (Mexican?) video from last year, where Johnny and The Rev were on the TV show 'Soundcheck'. The guys are discussing the process of making the selftitled album, their video for 'A Little Piece of Heaven' being banned from TV and more. I had never seen it before, so I thought I'd put it up. Check it out!

Please note: the A7X part starts at 2.18 minutes!

Thanks to a7xvengeancemx for putting it up on YouTube!

Reminder: Not the real Rev!

Published on July 11, 2009 @ 12:56PM // SHARE ON TWITTER OR FACEBOOK!

We have posted this before but we would once again like to tell you and remind you:

@therev on Twitter is a FAKE.

Meaning, it is not the real James Sullivan from Avenged Sevenfold. Whomever is updating that account, we don't know, but it is NOT The Rev. This has been confirmed by Avenged Sevenfold's management.

We noticed that he/she is still updating and pretending to be the drummer of the band and a lot of people are still following this account. Please do yourself a favor and stop following this person - you are nothing but a joke to him/her.

Want Avenged Sevenfold to perform on the 2009 MTV VMA's?

Published on July 10, 2009 @ 6:30AM // SHARE ON TWITTER OR FACEBOOK!

MTV posted a message on their Twitter, asking us all who we want to see perform on the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. If you have Twitter, simply send an @reply to MTV saying something along the lines:

@MTV Avenged Sevenfold should perform at the 2009 MTV VMA's

You could do this once, but if you do it once every day, perhaps we have a better shot at seeing our favorite band play during the show!

Please note: if your updates are LOCKED (private) MTV will not be able to see your @replies!

FYI: for those of you that want an A7X blanket and don't want to get your asses kicked by Zacky's little nephew, you can make custom blankets through sites like TreasureKnit.com and VisionBedding.com. Just know that it's expensive and you need a good quality image (or images) to get the best result.
